Fashion, for me has always been so much more than an interest. Everytime Fashion Week rolls around, I don’t mind those sleepless nights watching live streams of the shows from NY to Paris, attending shows closer home at Bangalore Fashion Week and putting in effort into every outfit before I step out of the house.
Fashion for me is a lot more than being into clothes – it’s about expressing who I am, exploring new textures, new colours, new silhouettes and adding something special to my wardrobe and personality. It’s also got a lot to do with discovery, and often I’ve wanted to have a place where I can just go whenever I need some fashion inspiration. That’s when I came across Affimity.
Affimity is a space for exploring your passions – whatever they may be. For me, when I first heard about it, initially I assumed it would be a lot like Pinterest. But there’s actually so much more. Besides, for someone like me, being a blogger is hard work and it’s often the most simple things that serve as inspiration. This place has every possible source I could look for. The signup process is easy, and once you add basic info and a picture to your profile, you can add ‘channels’ to explore based on your interest.
I chose Fashion, Food, Beauty and a few more personal interests on my profile. The difference here is that not only can I share my ideas with so many other users but can also interact with others on the fashion or beauty posts they put up. In addition, there are ways to create my own polls quickly and easily so that whenever I’m in a fashion emergency all I need to do is ask others who love it as much as I do for help!
The most interactive part I liked was that you can also ask and answer questions. In that sense it’s a lot more interactive than many of the platforms I’ve used for visual inspiration. If you’re a blogger like me, you’d also appreciate that your posts would reach a new and untapped potential audience. The point is, I found this platform a lot more authentic than our usual social media websites – other posts can be sponsored, but posts here are organic, and created by people like you and me. It’s like an online scrapbook that has content you’ll love, tailored for things you love.
Follow my journey with Affimity here – it’s just begun and I’d love to have you join in!
