Lyrics: Four Seasons in One Day by Crowded House
What’s summer all about? For me it’s bright colours, weather that blows hot and cold (when rainy Bangalore strikes) and tons of indulgence (cold desserts, mangoes, pina coladas, iced tea and everything in between!). It was a slightly sultry summer evening when we decided to start with our very first fashion shoot, and it’s quite interesting how we met. I chanced upon a rather talented photographer (check out her work btw, she’s pretty amazing and from Delhi) who I chatted with on Facebook and the natural progression was to become friends on the platform. When I’d mentioned wanting to collaborate with someone for my next shoot, she tagged her Bangalore friend, equally freaking talented. Starbucks meetup happened and voila. I absolutely loved shooting with her, and I’m looking forward to the next one! I hope you like the photos as much as I did.
This outfit of the day features a gorgeous block printed dress from The Jodi Life. I’d always liked the red-pink combination, and so they custom made it for me when it wasn’t available online. I must say I was rather skeptical (and still somewhat am) of the material of the dress because it felt like very thin cotton, but I love the silhouette and it definitely did justice. Let me know what you think! I paired it with my favourite sneakers, a bead necklace thrifted by my mom on one of her many travels across the world, and a gorgeous handcrafted Big Stefanie sling bag from Chiaroscuro. It’s a beautiful colour called Blush, and I can just imagine how beautifully it’ll age. It also has a pretty little customization in the form of my blog initials, SS, carved into the sling. You’ll see glimpses of her in this shoot now. More to follow on her very soon.
A moment turns into a story when you least expect it to. The first time when we found a spot to shoot in, this rather cooperative auto driver very kindly let us shoot in his auto and with him, leading to some of these fun shots!
On our further explorations, we came across a magnificent old tree, with its roots intertwining and tangling together to form a beautiful natural structure, and a rather lively German Shepherd we loved playing with. But possibly the most intriguing part of our walk was discovering this little house that looked like it came straight out of a story. Its walls were painted every possible colour, and there were fascinating sculptures and art made from the most random things like cables, metal sheets, trinkets and knick knacks. While we created our own theories (a genius couple who wants to share their art with the world lived there, someone made this as a project to share with everyone passing by and so on) we wanted to maintain that mystery and fantasy we felt when we saw it, and so we’re sharing it here with you 🙂
