Forest Essentials Sheet Masks – First Impressions
Forest Essentials has been known for its luxury beauty products that use our age-old Ayurvedic traditions. This time though in a rather surprising move they’ve launched their own sheet masks. They sent me over the range to try, and here’s my first impression.
There are 3 variants –
- Ojas Age Arresting Ayurvedic Sheet Mask
- Sundari Deep Hydration Ayurvedic Sheet Mask
- Tejasvi Brightening & Lightening Sheet Mask
I absolutely love the packaging of each Forest Essentials Sheet Mask. Beautiful and colourful, featuring illustrations of birds and flowers. It’s easy to tear open too, you don’t need a pair of scissors to do it. The pricing and the ingredients are mentioned overleaf in detail.
Rs. 395/- each, also available in a pack of 3 for Rs. 995/-
Availability in India:
At Forest Essentials stores across the country, select Sephora outlets and online on their website and Nykaa.
I will review each Forest Essentials Sheet Mask one by one for you guys.
How to Use:
Remove mask from inside packaging. Gently open it out and place it on your face according to the cutouts for eyes and mouth. Leave it on for 15-20 mins. Take it off, squeeze the extra serum from the mask and massage everything into skin. You may wash it after sometime if you like, or not. Either way it gets absorbed into the skin.
I studied some of the ingredients in each of the masks and I found most of them were not only natural but also very beneficial. I’ll tell you about a few of the key ones.
Aloe vera leaves have been used for ages in skin treatment and as a natural skincare remedy. Aloe is known for its moisturizing properties, and it also boosts collagen. It also has healing properties, so it would be helpful for those with acne issues. Morus Alba is nothing but mulberry, and it is known to help with brightening skin as well.
The lotus flower has some amazing beauty benefits. It is a natural exfoliant, has Vitamin C and shields the skin from free radicals. Olive leaf extract is a skincare hero for its hydration and soothing properties. Thyme is antiseptic and according to a recent study, may also help prevent acne.
Portulaca Oleracea is a natural source of Vitamin C, A and K and also helps prevent premature ageing. Algae removes dryness and itchiness from skin. Liquorice root has something called glabridin which provides an even skin tone and reduces dark circles. Panthenol is a type of alcohol that is anti-inflammatory and moisturizing. Lemon peel oil, if less than 4% in the product, rejuvenate skin cells and fight sun damage.
Forest Essentials Sheet Mask Review
Whew! That’s some combination of ingredients! The good news is that all these ingredients are like superfoods for your skin. They all have a combination of moisturising, skin tone evening, collagen boosting, anti-aging and so many other benefits.
There is no strong smell as such, just a pleasant and faint lingering scent. The face mask doesn’t seem sticky in any way, and fits on smoothly. The only thing is that I wish the masks were slightly smaller to make them easier to fit, but I guess there’s no standard size. Also, if the essence could be made into a serum it would be so perfect! Are you listening, Forest Essentials? 🙂
Sundari Deep Hydration Ayurvedic Sheet Mask
The Sundari Ayurvedic Sheet Mask is perfect for those times when your skin feels dry or needs deep moisturization. The packaging has a beautiful illustration of butterflies on the front and a full list of instructions and ingredients on the back. After leaving it for 15-20 mins I massaged the excess serum into my skin. It took a while to get absorbed though, but after that my skin felt very smooth and not at all oily. I could see a visible difference in my skin – it seemed more hydrated and had a slight glow.
Ojas Age Arresting Ayurvedic Sheet Mask
The Ojas Age Arresting Ayurvedic Sheet Mask might take a while to recognize results since it seems more long term, like an anti ageing sheet mask. The packaging is red and has a beautiful bird illustration. The quality of the sheet mask essence is similar to the Sundari one, since hydration is an important part of anti-ageing too. I tried this one at night before bed, and woke up with refreshed, rejuvenated skin that felt silky to the touch.
Tejasvi Brightening & Lightening Sheet Mask
While I wasn’t too happy with the way the last Forest Essentials Sheet Mask was named, it worked for me as a rejuvenating experience for my tired and sleep-deprived skin. I used it on a weekend before a busy work week and it felt cool and comforting on my skin. Better than spending a whole lot of time on a facial! It brightened my mood for sure. The packaging has some beautiful lotuses illustrated on it.
- Ayurvedic and natural ingredients
- Beautiful packaging
- Easily available
- Does what it claims
- Luxury feel as compared to drugstore masks
- Price point, however, it’s justified as it’s a premium brand
- Promoting ‘lightening’ skin which is problematic imo
The Forest Essentials Sheet Mask range gets a 4/5 from me and is perfect for when you want to pamper your skin but don’t have a whole lot of time.
