There’s something just so luxurious about natural beauty products. I always get drawn in by natural ingredients because I always love being closer to nature and if my body butters can do that, I’m down! Hemp seed is an ingredient that’s gradually been gaining popularity for its amazing properties. It’s rich in omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, and this makes it an excellent moisturizer for dry skin and hair. It also improves skin oxygenation and hydration and improves skin elasticity over time. I had a chance to discover a lot more about the whole process of creating natural beauty products from hemp seed oil, with a brand called Satliva. Read on to know all about my favourite products from them.
Satliva was established by a very interesting couple who discovered the amazing potential of hemp through their research and launched Satliva as a clear product of their passion for hemp oil products. The hemp raw materials they use are sourced directly from the foothills of the Himalayas, so it’s 100% pure. They have a production and manufacturing unit in HSR Layout in Bangalore, and custom make batches of their hemp oil products based on orders, so everything is freshly made for you too. We had the chance to actually visit and observe as some of these products were made! From soaps, to body butters, hair butters and more, they have a lot of different products to suit various skin types. As I have dry to combination skin, here’s a look at all the products that I tried.
Hemp Oil With Moringa Face and Body Oil: If you’ve been reluctant to ever try oil on your face, try this. I guarantee you’ll love it. It’s completely non-sticky, has a light fragrance and gets absorbed very easily into your skin. It’s better to take a very small coin-sized amount and gently apply it onto your face with upwards strokes. Another way to use this dual-purpose oil is to massage it into your damp skin right after a shower. Moisturizes really well and stays that way throughout the work day.
Hemp with Avocado Hair Oil: One of my favourite hemp oil products from this brand. If you have a combination of dry hair and oily scalp, this hair oil is very nourishing. It’s always best to massage it into your hair and scalp an hour before you wash your hair. Not only does the massage increase blood circulation and activate hair growth but it also deep moisturizes your hair. It left my hair soft and silky after my regular shampoo routine. I also tried it in combination with their shampoo bar.
Hemp with Cocoa Butter Body Soap Bar: This soap smells yummy and the cocoa butter used in its production (yup I saw it being made right in front of me!) is completely pure. I don’t normally use soap, but this one glides so smoothly onto skin and lathers well to leave my skin feeling nourished and not drained of moisture like soap normally does for me.
Hemp with Argan and Activated Charcoal Shampoo Bar: Shampoo in solid form? Yup, that’s what this is. The pure argan oil used in this helps make hair soft and shiny, and the activated charcoal cleanses hair without stripping it of its natural oils. It has a slight lemony scent which I loved. Although I wish it would be a little easier to use because particles often remain stuck to hair and scalp afterwards.
Hair Cream with Rosemary Essential Oil: So the key to using this amazing product is to be very sparing when you use it, because it’s very rich and creamy in its texture and the amount of natural oil it has. The first time I made the mistake of using it like my leave-in conditioner – I took a coin-sized amount and my hair ended up being greasy. The next time i took a very small spot of it, and scrunched it into the ends of my hair and it settled in beautifully and kept it frizz-free. This also means that this product will last you a crazy amount of time.
Cocoa Bliss Body Butter with Spearmint: So if you know me at all, I am crazy about amazing scents when it comes to bath and body and natural beauty products. This one doesn’t disappoint at all in that department. It reminds me of After Eights and it’s just heavenly. As a body butter, this is rich and has a light and whipped consistency. After a while say one or two months you may notice tiny white particles appearing in it. Don’t get alarmed, it’s just the natural crystallization of the contents. Tip: You can use a small amount for basic moisturization or lots more for that glistening glow on your skin when you’re going out!
Mango Fresh Face Butter with Lavender Oil: I hadn’t heard of face butter until now. If you have dry skin, your skin will thank you for this one! The carrot seed oil used in this helps protect your skin from UV rays, and the mango butter in this is known for giving relief to itchy skin and even has anti-wrinkle properties! So you can probably use it in your night routine – I use it as a night cream after washing my face at night.
Raspberry Lip Balm: This lip balm smells good enough to eat, and the spearmint gives you that amazing cool effect. Red Raspberry seed oil also has a natural SPF of 28-35, so you stay protected and keep your lips soft enough for all your favourite liquid matte lipsticks.
Phew! So as you can see I’ve tried out something from every range of products this lovely organic brand offers. I’m loving the wonders that hemp oil clearly has, and am definitely paying a visit to their unit again to show you guys what the brand is all about. If you have any specific questions drop me a comment or mail and I’ll definitely answer them the best I can.
Pricing: The products are priced from Rs. 260 and go up to about Rs. 700. I’ve heard from people that they feel this might be pricey, but I’ve seen the process first hand, and it is made in very limited quantities, orders are custom created when placed, and they use literally the most concentrated form of the ingredients.
Availability: Currently they only retail through their website, but they deliver across the country. Shop here.
