Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose

– Jedi Master Yoda

Star Wars-inspired outfit of the day: H&M Sweatshirt, FabAlley skirt, Pipa + Bella necklace, Adidas Originals Superstars shoes

Happy New Year! I’m starting the new year with today’s outfit of the day, inspired by the Star Wars series.

Every one of us, like the Force in the Star Wars universe, has a light side and a dark side. I always like to believe in people, that their light side is always more prominent.
But often, certain experiences and moments move us deeper and deeper into the dark side. That part of your mind that tells you that you can’t do something, or that there’s no one around who really cares about you. Or that there’s ‘no use’ in continuing. It can be pretty easy to get overwhelmed and sink into your dark side.

But here’s the thing. You can’t stop. You shouldn’t stop. No matter what it is you’re passionate about. There’ll be times when you’re frustrated as hell, when you think nothing you do is enough. That’s not an opportunity to give up. It’s a chance to push yourself further than you ever have, to get OUT of that comfort zone and rise with a vengeance.

I’m starting the new year with a head of green hair (yes, I did it! More details on the process of getting my hair coloured coming soon), lots of dreams, and a bucketload of things to do that will constantly challenge me to bring you the very best through this blog.

This outfit of the day draws inspiration from the Force, the concept of controlling your destiny as explained by wise Master Yoda, and relates to my own view of how one must seize the moment and work one’s ass off to be the best one can be.

This outfit of the day pays tribute to Star Wars, something my brother and I grew up watching, and a series that fascinated me.

The goosebumps we collectively got when the theme song began playing at the theatre. Han Solo. R2. The excuses we were willing to make for it just so we could get a glimpse into that universe again.

The constant battle between the light side and the dark side, much like all of our minds. Also, OMG. Star Wars is back 🙂

This new year, don’t be afraid to truly love yourself. Do all the things you postponed doing last year. Make resolutions. Or don’t. Exercise. Or don’t. The world is truly your oyster, and you should know that nothing and no one should ever dull your sparkle. Step out with confidence and do what makes you happy!

This outfit of the day is the first of my new collaboration with Dr. Prem Sundar from The Talking Picture, and Alam Buzz, an Inglot Professional makeup artist. Look forward to lots more coming to you every week!
