Pedicures are my go-to way to pamper myself. I like spa treatments too, but getting a pedicure is my favourite way to relax – besides, I can still keep busy by catching up on the latest with a magazine or checking mails while I get my treatment done! Now I have tried spa pedicures before, but most of them tend to be more or less the same – they wash your feet, scrub, file, polish, wash again and finally apply nailpolish. At the Jean-Claude Biguine salon in Koramangala though, I got to experience a pedicure with a twist, the Deep Moisturizing ‘Waterless’ Pedicure. Yup, you read that right! I was intrigued when I was invited to try it – I mean how do you clean feet without using water? Read on to know how!
I’ll start by saying that the salon is absolutely fabulous. I was greeted with a warm smile and a water bottle once I entered the salon. The decor is done up tastefully, giving it a luxe feel without being too OTT, and they’ve stocked up on the best in hair products, from Sebastian Professional, to Moroccan Oil to Kérastase.
I especially loved the hair portraits arranged on the walls and the massage chairs that let you relax while you get your hair washed. This time, I decided to see what was different about the pedicure.
Deep Moisturizing Pedicure At Jean-Claude Biguine
The luxury Deep Moisturizing pedicure from Jean-Claude Biguine is the first of its kind exclusively for India. It consists of a technique where a specially created moisturizing emulsion consisting of collagen and aloe vera gently moisturizes the feet. This is a complete treatment that exfoliates, massages and moisturizes feet without having to use water.
The only time water was used was to wash my feet to start with, in a warm bath. After thoroughly cleansing, my pedicurist proceeded to file and shape my nails.
A lot of the best salons tend to be very rough with this step but here she took the time to shape them, smoothen out the ridges and leave them neat and well-filed, in addition to pushing back and massaging the cuticles.
On to the foot filing – a wonderful contraption called the Peditrix worked its magic on my feet. There’s no need to worry about disinfected foot files with this technique. It uses a foot massager with a rotating head onto which one can place the sandpaper used in foot files – less messy and more hygienic. I sank back into the chair while I felt the Peditrix get right to the soles of my feet and relieve all the stress of the day.
Finally, she brought out the Pedikit, which is a complete foot mask infused with collagen to keep skin firm and smooth, tea tree oil, cuticle softeners, keratin to keep nails strong and aloe vera for a soothing effect. She created a wrap around my feet which was left on for about 5-10 minutes. It smelled heavenly, and in the meantime I took time to relax while I waited.
There were so many pretty colours of nailpolish to choose from! I finally chose something appropriate for the current season.
The finishing touch was a lovely shade of plum which I thought was perfect for fall.
